Wise Owls Go Back to School
My girlfriend mentioned the other day that owls must be hot this fall because they are everywhere. Ever since she said this, I too have noticed the recent owl craze. Given their popularity, I thought this would be a fun theme for a back to school party. This theme could be done for any age, but I’ll give specific ideas for your daughter who is heading back to college.
Some quick ideas for your back to school party planning and free online invitations:
- Check out antique stores for a variety of owl items. Give an owl to each guest with the famous nursery rhyme (and good life lesson) attached beautifully with a ribbon: “A wise old owl lived in an oak; the more he saw the less he spoke. The less he spoke, the more he heard. Why can’t we all be like the wise old bird?”
- Purchase lots of college survival items. Have the kids choose items such as lotions, pepper spray, pens and paper, and brain food snacks for wisdom: peanut butter, tuna, flaxseed, wheat germ and oatmeal packs.
- Find cool owl bags to hold all of the back to school survival kit items. The bag can do double duty and used on campus.
- Since your daughter and her friends will likely pull many all-nighters, custom make a fun t-shirt that says, “Night Owl.” They’ll probably just wear it to bed, but it’s a cool idea to tie everything together.
So have fun hunting for hot owl items. Once you read this, you’ll surely notice them popping up everywhere. It’s an exciting and sad time when kids go to college so take the time to send them off with a thoughtful farewell.
