Sports Team Party Planning

It’s that time of year again and if you have children, you’re probably gearing up for little league soccer or football season. It can be difficult for kids to start on a new team, particularly if they don’t have any buddies who are playing with them. A good way to handle this transition is to host a team party. Most team parties happen at the end of the season, rather than the beginning. I think it’s great to do both so you give kids the opportunity to mingle in a social setting off the field.

Here are some fun party planning ideas to create a unified team:

·         Create team practice shirts with plain white tees and paint. Have the kids paint the bottoms of their feet and stamp the shirts. You can write something like “Stepping Together” or “Kicking Together” or “In Step with Each Other.”

·         Have the kids paint signs and flags that encourage team spirit. These banners can be pulled out for the games for the parent cheering section.

·         Bring a sign-up sheet so the parents can rotate bringing a special snack after each game. This after-game bonding time will reinforce the life message that it’s not about winning or losing but about getting in there and playing the game.

·        Here are details about the adorable soccer cake to get you inspired! Regardless of what your child’s sport is this season, set the tone for a fun season with a team party. I’m sure the coach will be grateful to have engaged parents who are excited about making the team a success.

Enjoy Planning.
