Party Politics

With the Democratic National Convention on August 25-28 and the Republican National Convention on September 1-4, it’s a great opportunity to let off some steam in this politically charged election year.

Partypolitics

I’m throwing taboo out the window and will host a politics party. To get started with online party planning, I’ll invite an equal number of party loyalists and have fun with the issues that usually divide us. Don’t forget you can democratically choose the date with MyPunchbowl’s online invitations to really get things moving, I’ll be serving some supercharged political energy drinks.  I’m loading up on plenty of bar ingredients so my guests can come up with their own favorite mix. Here are some ideas:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Obama Time for Change

1 shot Blue Curacao, ½ can Obama energy drink

Mixing Instructions: Pour Curacao into a small shot glass, and add half a can of energy drink to a suitable drop-shot glass. Drop the shot glass into the energy drink and drink as a shooter.

The McCain War Hero

1 shot Cherry Schnapps, ½ can McCain energy drink

Mixing Instructions: Pour Schnapps into a small shot glass, and add half a can of energy drink to a suitable drop-shot glass. Drop the shot glass into the energy drink and drink as a shooter.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In the spirit of patriotism, we’ll use red, white and blue cups and I’ll write American on the front of each to keep the group unified.

A fun way to get the conversation started is to pass around a fish bowl and have everyone drop ideas on how they would solve some of our country’s challenges. Take turns and read them aloud. It’s always surprising how good ideas emerge.

For checks and to maintain balance (literally), I’ll be serving lots of All-American appetizers. I’m thinking pigs in a blanket, chicken wings, mini-cheeseburgers and of course apple pie will do the trick.

Whether your friends are red or blue or maybe just green, take time to celebrate some red, white and blue and remember what makes this country so great-- We the people. Oh yea, and don’t forget to vote in November.

Enjoy Planning.
