July 4th Party
When it comes to 4th of July party planning, nothing beats tradition. This is the time of year to celebrate our country and freedom with patriotism and joy. In between the morning parade and the evening fireworks display, I’ll be having a traditional 4th of July picnic with family, friends and neighbors.
When I think of our July 4th party, my mouth begins to water for the great Fourth of July menu items. I look forward to fresh buttery corn on the cob, juicy watermelon, baked beans and tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs. My kids help make homemade vanilla ice-cream to top off old fashioned apple and cherry pies.
Keep 4th of July decorations simple with traditional American flags and bunting. Bunting is a lightweight cloth material often used for flags or decoration. Using bunting on the outside of your home can really dress things up with patriotic flare. For my July 4th table decorations, I start with a plain white tablecloth and hang bunting around the edges -- and carry this theme from the exterior to the interior helps tie everything together. Since this look can be more formal, I balance it by throwing star spangled blankets and pillows on the ground to tempt guests to lounge lazily, cloud watch and give airplane rides to the young of heart.
Enjoy your July 4th party planning!
